Hello! I’m Britt, not to be confused with the British Britt, but a Minnesota native. I am a recent grad from the University of North Dakota where I received a Bachelor’s of Art in Communication with an International Emphasis and Spanish minor. I have been to 10 countries and 4 continents. In addition, I have been to 25 out of the 50 states in the US. Not just driving through either!

I was born in Grand Forks, ND…for those who have no idea where North Dakota is, let alone Grand Forks, it is 2.5 hours south of Winnipeg, Canada. However, I spent most of my life growing up in Rochester, MN.

I decided to move back to the Grand Forks area my junior year of high school  because I knew I wanted to go to the University of North Dakota…Sioux Forever! This is where I felt my first itch for travel. I had met an Italian exchange student, who I now consider one of my best friends, and was instantly beyond jealous of her life. I mean she lives in Italy for crying out loud! My favorite country! She had told me about all the places she had traveled to and I swear my jaw was dropped throughout the whole conversation. I could not get over that someone so young had already seen and experienced so much of the world already. At the end of the year, she invited me to go visit her in Italy, but my mom did not approve. Instead, my mom agreed to host an exchange student for the following year…so thank you to my Italian best friend for opening my eyes to traveling and giving me the idea to host a girl that I now call my German little sister.

We hosted her for 1 year, and again this was another influential time in my life that led me to become the travel junkie I am today. At the end of the year, her family invited me to spend the summer with them. My mom of course was still not to keen on the idea, but decided it was the prime time to do it before I started college. I spent a month and a half traveling around Europe and experiencing new cultures everywhere I went. I was fascinated by the people I met and the different cultures. I knew I wanted to continue my traveling adventures long after the summer was over.

I started my freshmen year of college at the University of North Dakota studying Biology for Pre-Dentistry. However, I figured out this was not for me by the second semester. I was plain scienced out and began to think of different career paths that could potentially involve traveling and could still be used to get into Dental School if I chose to later in life. I ended up choosing Communications with an International Emphasis and Spanish minor. A requirement of my International Emphasis is to study abroad, which was perfect because I knew I wanted to study in Australia for a semester.

My goal, whether you are a fellow travel lover or never left the city you live in, is to make you want to hop on the next flight out to anywhere. My hope is to demonstrate perspectives, break some stereotypes and share travel tips and destinations…so here is to new adventures, friends and endless opportunities.
